Pacific Northwest University’s ‘Run for Your Life’ returns, supports health education

In a vibrant display of community spirit and support for education, Pacific Northwest University hosted its annual “Run for Your Life,” event today.

It’s the first time the event has happened since COVID-19.

Participants of all ages and backgrounds gathered to take part in this charitable endeavor.

From seasoned runners to first-time participants, the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and determination as individuals laced up their running shoes to support a worthy cause.

“[It’s] just a chance for the community to get out and run on this beautiful day but also to raise some funds for our student scholarships here at PNWU,” said Katelyn Bonny, student coordinator for the Run for Your Life event at PNWU.

Since 2011, the Run for Your Life Event has been a cornerstone for PNWU’s commitment to providing accessible education in the health sciences.

With the rising costs of tuition and other expenses, scholarships play a crucial role in ensuring that serving students have the opportunity to pursue their academic and professional aspirations without financial barriers.

“PNWU’s mission is to serve the underserved and to get students here who want to learn and train in areas of rural underserved medicine, that’s so important,” said Bonny. “Medical education is really expensive so this is just a way to alleviate some of that burden so students can pursue their dreams to serve the underserved.”

The event also featured a health fair.

Leaders we spoke to say it’s important that individuals are aware of some of the resources that are right here in the Valley.
