Stoughton High School wins state ‘Spirit of Excellence Award’ | Education

SHS has just won another Wisconsin Association of School Councils (WASC) “Spirit of Excellence Award,” which honors schools for achieving excellence in leadership, sportsmanship, and service to their schools and communities. Other state recipients were Stevens Point Area Senior High School, the state recipient), Bay Port High School and South Milwaukee High School.

According to a WASC news release, schools across the state submitted a detailed portfolio to the Wisconsin Association of School Councils (WASC) highlighting their achievements in various venues, including service; sportsmanship and positive culture; leadership in academics, athletics, and fine arts; development of leadership both in and out of school; and lowering the achievement gap. This portfolio was judged by a team of leaders from Wisconsin.

“They are true champions in their region and in our state,” read the news release.

Recognition for these awards includes banners for all regional recipients and a trophy for the state winners, an awards presentation at the March 4 Milwaukee Bucks game, and an awards presentation at the WASC State SHS and JAM Conference in Madison on Sunday, April 7.
